Antonio Margheriti

Antonio Margheriti (born in Rome, September 19, 1930 - died in Monterosi, Viterbo, November 4, 2002), better known under the pseudonym Anthony M. Dawson, was a prolific Italian filmmaker.

He was born in Rome and died from a heart attack, near Rome at the age of 72.

Margheriti is known for his science fiction, horror, spaghetti western and action movies. He is the director of such cult movies as "Horror Castle", "Spacemen", "Battle of the Worlds", "The Golden Arrow", "Wild, Wild Planet", "The Unnaturals", "Mr. Superinvisible", and dozens of others. Most of his films were directed under the pseudonym of Anthony M. Dawson, with the exception of Io ti amo (1968).

He was the only Italian director who worked directly for production companies like MGM, United Artists, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures, etc. with films like: "Yor, The Hunter from the Future", "Take a Hard Ride", "Killer Fish", and the four films of the science fiction series, Gamma 1 in 1964.

His son Edoardo is also a filmmaker.
